
New volunteers are advised to study the local map in association with a smaller scale road map if they are not familiar with the area.
Once you have reached Sutton Montis the project premises can be accessed by driving south out of the village and then taking the first turning right (signposted for Weston Bampfylde). After a little over 150m take a right turning onto a concrete farm track, over a cattle grid, and drive its full length to a small car park.
From the car park walk to the far end of the building housing Vortex hovercraft company and enter the double metal doors there.

The campsite offers two permanent wash-
The nearest pub is The Camelot, South Cadbury. Apart from food and drink, it offers a display of finds and text (pictured left) from Cadbury Castle and SCEP. An orginal painting and several drawings by the renowned archaeological reconstruction artist, Jane Brayne, are hung on the walls.
The nearest village shops are in Queen Camel and North Cadbury (both two miles), while those wanting to buy from a range of shops Castle Cary (six miles) is a small local town with an interesting varied and attractive architecture. The Abbey town of Sherborne (also six miles) is just across the county border in Dorset and has supermarkets. And for those who prefer the modern urban experience Yeovil (9 miles) offers the widest range of consumer goods!
